Thursday Theatrics: Google Fails - Episode 1
I found a two-headed baby, you guys. Like, a baby. With two heads.
Recently, I Googled a certain kind of shampoo. I didn't do it for any weird reason - I had read a blog post about a particular type of shampoo, which just happens to be the same type Josephine uses. Her hair is super thick and super curly even though it's also super long, which often means ...
DANDRUFF.
So this blog post I read was about carrying Head & Shoulders Shampoo while traveling, especially if you're traveling to climates other than your own. And I commented, saying that my daughter uses that shampoo brand as well - but that she uses the 2-in-1, and that she particularly liked ...
WAIT? WHAT SCENT WAS IT AGAIN?
So I googled, "Head & Shoulders two in one," switched over to images so I could just pick out the one that looks like my daughter's shampoo, and look at the label.
And just a few rows down, I got this little guy:
Yeah. That wasn't what I was looking for, but thanks, Google.
But he's cute, right? Other than the second head part, he's super cute. Look at his little hands, and his little face - he's so cute! Seriously, he's even sleeping with one eye peeked open - just like Eden sometimes does when she's really times - so he gets extra cuteness points for that, right? Right??
But he is little neck like a train wreck. That whole second head thing ... I felt like a jerk but I still couldn't look away. I'm a mother, and I so precisely laid my babies down when they slept, ever so carefully ... and he looks uncomfortable. And I know that's gonna wreak havoc on his neck muscles. His posture. His childhood.
His childhood.
WAIT, CAN HE EVEN LIVE LIKE THAT?
So of course, I did some more googling, and it turns out, he can, and he grew up to be super super cute. He didn't have a second head after all, and what I fell for what a shock factor photograph coupled with a clickbait headline - the baby was simply born with a very large lymphatic cyst, and when he was a few months old his parents had it removed. Click here and go check out how cute he is at his first birthday party! What a little charmer, huh?
Questions for the Comments Section:
- Did you fall for the photo like I did?
- What was your worst Google fail?
he is adorable and yes I had to go check it out. by the way I adore you blog and it makes my day to read it
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Karen! It always makes me excited to see you pop up in the comments!
DeleteThis baby is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy the cyst was removed and that he has no problems...so good wishes to this little boy and his family!
P.s.somethimes Google is really strange!
Searching for a shampoo, but discovering this happy ending Story!
I was definitely surprised by it, that's for sure!
DeleteIt is so strange the things that google gives you. I sometimes wonder how they get to that point lol
ReplyDeleteMe too! And the crazy thing is that's not the first time something like that has happened.
DeleteThat was my first thought when I saw the picture - that it was a cyst of some sort. How gross for them to do that just to get clicks! Glad though that the baby/boy is well now.
ReplyDeleteYeah I didn't like the way it was presented at all.
DeleteThanks for sharing the link of his post surgery photograph. I felt really sad seeing a child have to suffer with that cyst.
ReplyDeleteHe just looked so uncomfortable. I was really happy to see that it all worked out for him in the end.
DeleteHaha you totally got me! I was staring at that photo for a while trying to work out if it had a twin that half morphed into him or something. I'm so glad that he turned out okay! My worst Google fail would have to be when I looked up Kimpossible (A cartoon I watched as a child) to get ideas for a dress up party. Nestled within the first few photos on google images was a very inappropriate drawing of Kim and her mother. People have too much time on their hands that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck? Kim and her mom? Ew!! (I remember that show, I used to watch it now and then myself!)
DeleteOmg! This is totally hearbreaking for this child but im so glad that he is now getting better! Wishing this baby a happy and healthy life!
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing that right along with you!
DeleteIt is curious what Google will give you sometimes. Makes me nervous/concerned when my kids are online - I never know what's going to pop-up for them!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you told me he was ok :)
Yeah my kids aren't allowed to use Google often - it's amazing the things you can stumble over online when you didn't mean to.
Deleteomg! wishing this baby a healthy life! hope he can recover with God's healing power.. im glad he is ok!
ReplyDelete-Nikki Wayne
I was glad to see that he was alright and that everything worked out just fine for him and his family.
Deletei feel so sad seeing this child suffering from this kind of sickness. hope he's fine and continue his recovery!
ReplyDelete-Wendy Polisi
I hope so, too! I'm sure the removal of the cyst was just the beginning for him - I bet he needed a good deal of therapy to grow and repair the muscles in his neck.
Deletewe dont need to trust google at all because they give crazy answers, is just like the translation they do
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteThis is heart breaking. God shouldn't punish kids.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I see it as a punishment for the child. There's no telling how this worked out for the other people involved - and that applies to other situations too. But as a Christian, this is what a broken world looks like to me, due to our own sin and our corrupted nature.
DeleteI don't try to explain it, or pretend that I can - faith is about believing that God is doing something even with the things that sadden me. I don't need to know His plan in order to be able to trust in it.
How interesting! Google can pop up some odd results. I'm glad he grew up to be okay!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Sure was interesting though.
DeleteYikes! You must have been very surprised to see this.
ReplyDeleteTo say the least! I think I sat there staring for quite a while, but then of course I felt guilty for staring and had to click through to find out what had happened.
DeleteThat cyst is super scary. But you are right. It was just something to try and get people to click at.
ReplyDeleteI just feel like that's such a rude and hurtful thing to do. He's just a baby!
Deleteit makes me sad to see stuff like this. breaks my heart.google....
ReplyDeleteRight there with you. I was happy to see the end of the story though, and to learn that he's alright.
DeleteNope not this one. I have fallen for a few though. I don't know why people do this, too much time on their hands.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding, right?
DeleteWow that optic-illusion image, I have to re-look to see two head. Aww that is really sad to see image like that. xx
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. It definitely looked like two heads to me until I realized what it was.
DeleteI would have been shocked to see a baby with two heads. I'm glad to know he grew up really cute and that it was just a cyst.
ReplyDeleteMe, too. I just kept thinking how uncomfortable he looked, with his little head stuck off to the side like that.
DeleteI'm super glad to know that the baby is doing well! Even I thought that he had two heads, great thing it was a cyst that was removed.
ReplyDeleteYeah I fell for it too, but was so relieved to see that it wasn't what it looked like.
DeleteThis is so scary and sad, I hate seeing anyone suffering from this kind of illness.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely sad to see. I was glad to see the story had a happy ending for him though.
DeleteUghhh it's so heart breaking to see kiddos sick!!! Glad to hear he's doing better now!!
ReplyDeleteI know - I can't imagine what it must have been like for his parents to see him like that and be unable to do anything to really help him.
DeleteGoogle searches are sometimes so unpredictable. And the baby looks so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteHe was definitely cute! Those little hands!
DeleteGoogle is a magical place where unusual things just love popping up in searches. Just kidding, but that's how it feels sometimes! Lol. I'm glad that baby had a good life though! He's adorable!
ReplyDeleteAgreed on all points!
DeleteGoogle can be really weird sometimes! Well, to be honest, they're always showing weird results! I think this is a little funny but I felt sad for the baby, it's so nice to know that you followed up on him and checked if he's doing great.
ReplyDeleteI just had to. I couldn't see that and not go see what happened - I'm probably too curious for my own good, but I just had to know.
DeleteThat is so unfortunate for babies to suffer that. Glad to hear he is okay now.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad too.
