I Did It Again.

(Alright Brittney Spears fans, stop giggling.)

Clearly this "blog on the days that end in five or zero because that'll simplify things and help me remember to do it" isn't working perfectly just yet. But because it's fun, I'm going to keep sticking with it. Eventually I'll get it.

Here are my most recent updates:

I'm up to seven mostly active projects right now, but currently my main daily focus is on a book called More Than Friends. This book is the fourth book in the Kingsley Series, and it has been a plague on my heart for years. It is the first book I have ever written from an almost entirely male perspective, and walking the line between a hero who is lovable and sensitive but still manly and real is a definite challenge. I've started this book over and over again since the first time, but now I feel that I'm on the right track ... and Michael Kingsley's story will be true to what the Kingsley Series represents, with a real cast of characters and an honest depiction of what love can do when people choose to believe in possibility.

In other news, my other projects are all moving along slowly but surely, and I can't wait to tell you guys some big news that I've been keeping to myself for a while now. I think if I can't tell it soon, I'm going to burst! In the meantime ...

When I posted to the blog a few days ago, I had some pretty lofty goals. I figured even I can remember to take time for blogging once every week or so. But then I thought, I will forget to do it on the right day!! Wah, wah, boo hoo!!" But then I thought, "I can do fives. How 'bout blogging on the 15th, 20th, 25th, etc? That could work." I know, I know. That probably actually more complicated than just telling myself to blog on Tuesdays, but whatev.

So yesterday was the 20th, and I should have been here, blogging. And I had intended to, had even thought of a few things to write about. I had a plan. But life gets in the way sometimes, and I was needed elsewhere.

My mother is one of the most unhealthy people I have ever met. She almost literally has everything you can imagine, with the exception of some big things like AIDS and stuff like that. But the "little" stuff? You name it, she probably has it. And now she's collecting bigger diagnoses, like "copd" and "congestive heart failure," and a few others. Well, yesterday she fell and broke her collarbone, and she comes before blogging.

I did get some writing done though, sitting in her hospital room. That's what I'll be doing today too. She seems to take perverse pleasure in watching my disjointed scribbles come together.

So I'll see you again on the 25th (probably) with some updates. And in the meantime, you can find shorter bursts of my presence around the web. I'm on Facebook, Google+, and as Author Brandi Kennedy, I'm on twitter @BrandiKennedy84. And recently, I even joined Instagram @AuthorBrandiKennedy.

And that's all for today's check-in. Until I see you here again, happy reading!

I Wonder If I've Mentioned This ...

I've been thinking about writing this post for days. Weeks. Maybe months. I've put it off because I needed to get my focus back on writing, I needed to keep my focus on getting back to basics (which I blogged about earlier this year).

I don't know how "back to basics" I've gotten, but here's what I've been up to:

1.) I joined a writer's group. The East Tennessee Creative Writers Alliance was formed when the Smoky Mountain chapter of the Romance Writers of America disbanded, and it works in some unconventional but totally amazing ways. I can't even begin to express how valuable this group has been to me, or how much I admire the various members.

2.) I've been trying to be more active on social media, and by that I mean more personal. I'm currently on several different sites (facebook, twitter, google+,, and instagram), and I'm hoping to become more active on my youtube channel in coming weeks, too. I may not be posting cover reveals and book releases just yet, but I am still around, I am still interacting with my readers, and ...

3.) I'm finally writing more regularly again! I'm currently working actively on seven different projects, mentioned here in no particular order: More Than Friends (contemporary romance, Kingsley Series, book four), Selkie II (fantasy romance, Selkie Trilogy, book two), Still Fighting For Freedom (chick lit romance, Freedom Series, book two), a horror story, a dystopian adventure, and two different non-fiction efforts to remain mostly secret for the moment. I don't know which of these books will release first, as I'm just rotating through them at the moment and working on whichever project happens to be working the best. But what matters to me is, I'm writing. I've been implementing some new methods that seem to really keep my creative juices flowing, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

So, that's what's going on with me. What's been going on with you?
